DownloadsII
DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options. It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself. Instructions & Support Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions. It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions. Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod! You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt). I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications. Screenshots & Live demo At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software. You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch). Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it. Changelog (version 6.0.9) Jelle
Help!!! I can't upload large files?? This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home. Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values. Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system). Add-ons There are currently no official add-ons. Unofficial add-ons are listed below. For the moment I've installed this on my test site. I'm hoping it's a perfect fit for my needs.
My members attend different functions and would like to share zip files of their photos from each function with other attendees of that function, but NOT with the rest of the members. Is there a simple way way of doing this? It would be optimal if ONLY the members who are allowed to download the zip are also the only ones who can see the zip. I was thinking of using the Social Groups but I don't see that I can set permissions based on Social Groups. also... Another thought... Is it possible to have the downloads folder on a different domain or even a different server? I'm thinking this is a way to keep the main site safe from malicious code downloaded by a nefarious member if it's hosted off site and called from the main site. |

I've been thinking about another feature if at all possible. I'd like to remove the "Downloads" tab from the Nav Bar. Which I can do through the ACP. But that also leaves us no link to upload files with. So I was thinking if there could be that ability from WITHIN each persons profile. At the moment you can see the list of downloads in a profile but it would be great, for my site anyway, if we can access the upload screen from the profiles. Then from there also set the permissions as we upload. Hopefully be able to set permissions based on Social Groups as well.
Thanks for your work. It's looking like a good fit for my needs so far. If it can be tweeked a bit then WooHoo! |

Heres a pic (its FanceyUploader2), i have not gotten to the appearance yet, thats just plug and chug into our darkstyle. Attachment 119437 Let me clarify a bit more on its current status: While the template that contains the upload form is rendered by downloads.php, the actual post of the forum is sent via FanceyUploader2's script.php. In part because I havent rewritten the do handler in downloads.php to expects multiple files in downloads.php and most importantly because if anyone of the files should encounter a permission error (like user reached upload limit or w/e) from download.php, I have not modified FanceyUploader2 to be able handle these errors. Though from my footwork, one can EASILY adopt FanceyUploader2's attach file demo and integrate its script.php into downloads.php. Or one can extend what I currently have and fully implement it into downloadsII mod. |

I know the developer keeps reverting back to vbulletin updating the file manager, but at this point I believe that won't be for a lonnnnggg time. Hopefully that is no longer the case now that your code is readily available. |
