DownloadsII
DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options. It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself. Instructions & Support Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions. It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions. Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod! You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt). I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications. Screenshots & Live demo At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software. You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch). Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it. Changelog (version 6.0.9) Jelle
Help!!! I can't upload large files?? This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home. Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values. Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system). Add-ons There are currently no official add-ons. Unofficial add-ons are listed below. Wrong log, that's your server log. You need your webserver log (e.g. apache error log) and/or your database log (e.g. mysql error log). One of those will likely have the error message you're looking for.
Have you renamed your admincp/modcp? If so when uploading the files you need to take that into account. |

Admincp and modcp are note renamed.
Sorry I am still a newbie in webmastering. This should be the correct log : http://va3jtxr206.1fichier.com/ I'm on a "shared (mutalized)" host, so maybe I have not acces to the mysql log. |

That's your apache access log (shows what files are being requested and by whom), in the same location, probably, or possibly in your forum root there should be an error log. If its in your forum root it might be called php_errors.

@squidsk : problem half fixes. In fact the white screens and problems in the displaying are only occuring with Opera navigator.
It works fine on Chrome. So I think there is a problem somewhere with the module about navigators. What is your opinion ? Edit : another question. Is it possible to remove the "number of downloads" from the messages view (and only keep the number of uploads) ? Edit 2 : is it possible to add the new downloads to the activity bloc and creating notifications for comments about downloads ? |

How To Fix UPLOAD LIMIT on GoDaddy
I have been scratching my head for 2 days trying to use DownloadsII addon with Godaddy under Linux. (yes I know what some will say about GoDaddy). When I upload a file it will not accept it unless the file is 2mb or smaller, any bigger I get an error. Yes I tried all the permissions and settings in DownloadsII for the various extensions, I set it at 50mb even more for zip files etc and still no solution. I set the groups permissions, just about everything was tried. What I learned: Forget all the posts you read about using ".htacccess" file and adding code into it. That just crashes your forum instantly with a 500 error. You then need to go in via the CPanel and edit out all the code to get your forum working again. THE REAL SOLUTION: 1) Make sure you have DownloadsII installed properly and set it up to be able to send files of the type and size you want and make sure you have your server side folder is created with permission set right etc. etc. 2) Go into Godaddy Cpanel and into files and go into the "Public_Html" root folder and using the cpanel create a file called ".user.ini" (Remember the "." in the front.) This file is made directly in the Public_Html folder and not any sub folder. 3) Now edit the file and add this code to the file file_uploads = On post_max_size = 50M upload_max_filesize = 50M 3A) Now Save the file. This assumes you want 50mb as the maximum. You can change it to what you want but I think the entry level accounts are 32mb and the level 2 are 128mb. I have level 2 but opted to keep the uploads to a max of 50mb. Call GoDaddy if you want to upgrade your account, but I am sure it will cost a few extra $ per month. Up to this point I have seen some of the above on the Internet but it still did not work. The next bit was what made it work. 4) Now that you have the file in place go back into the first page of CPanel and at the top right you will have a search area. Type in PHP in the search. On the third row of results you should see "php processes", Click it and at the top right you should see "Kill Processes". Press it to kill the current processes. 5) Go back to the main panel and in the search type in "php" again and look down to the 4th Row and you should see "Select php Version" Press that. 6) If your current version shows as 5.3 your already good to go and can skip the next steps. 7) If it shows 5.4 or 5.5 then you need to use the drop down button next to your version number and select 5.3 then press "Set As Current" and then Press "Save". 8) Now exit and you should be good to with uploading files to the size you set in the .user.ini or whatever limit your account has. If your unsure call Godaddy and they will tell you what your limit is. Hope this helps someone, I teared out my hair trying to get this to work. I was also lucky enough to talk to a great tech at GoDaddy named Andrew who lead me on the right path. |
