As of 23 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.

This is a cut down version based on a backup system written by Trigunflame for vb 3.0. It is a simple vBulletin cron trigged php system that does a dump of your database - either as one complete file, or as one file per table. Especially useful now that IB removed the old ACP backup option in vBulletin 4. Files can be (G)Zipped to save space.

All the options are located in the ACP in vBulletin Options >> vBulletin Automatic Backup

To install, download and unzip the files, and follow the instructions in the text file.

Yes is fine if thats what you want.

The path is entirely dependant on your server set-up and personal choice.

Installed plugin and I get this error:

Backup Error : Could not write to destination file ( ../../backups/2010-12-17/Forum-2010-12-17-Access.sql )

Previous version worked fine. Our server has just been changed. Could this possibly be the reason for this in any way. They tell me that I have all rights to the forum folder though.

We are using vBulletin 4.0.3

EDIT:

OK working. I had the path wrong.

I've changed the name of my admin and mod directories for security, and it seems to have caused this mod to fail - see error message below.

Warning: include_once([path]/./includes/cron/cronbackup.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/xxSECURENAMExx/cronadmin.php on line 113

Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening '[path]/./includes/cron/cronbackup.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in [path]/xxSECURENAMExx/cronadmin.php on line 113

I've looked in the cronbackup.php file, but don't see an obvious fix - i'm not good enough to make it work if it's not obvious - any help is appreciated.

If I have this run daily, will it replace the file created and only save 1 or will it make a new file each time?

Thats because the error isnt being generated by cronbackup.php.

What its actually saying is that cronadmin.php (the admin panel code for scheduled tasks) cannot see the file.

Are you sure that cronbackup.php still exists in the /includes/cron/ folder on your server - because that error is basically saying it doesnt !

That depends on the format you use for the timestamp (which names the files).

thanks Paul - which directory exactly should each file go into?

cronbackup.php?

The instructions don't say specifically, but judging from the error string, the admin directory?

I'll send you a Dr. Pepper when we get it going?

EDIT: Got it going - whew, I need a Dr. Pepper!
