Suggested Reputation Settings?

I'm convinced that the default Reputation Settings in vBulletin aren't very newbie friendly..

So alternatively, does anyone have any suggested settings that they have tried and tested?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure..
It just appears to be very hard for newbies to have any real input with the Reputation System as it is.


Register Date Factor: 365
They have to be registered 1 year to gain an extra point of reputation altering power.? Hmm.. Few boards live longer than 2 years in my experience.

Post Count Factor: 1000
1000 posts for an extra point of reputation altering power? I only have about 3 or 4 users with higher than 1000 posts after a year of being open!

Reputation User Spread: 20
Seems a bit dodgy to me for smaller boards.. 20 different users before you can give the same person reputation again?


I don't want to make it too easy, so that users could technically get a huge amount of reputation points very quickly. Then again, I want all users to be able to have some kind of input and not just those that have too much time on their hands..

We have been around more than 2 years and stronger than ever

But for those three, we use 365 days, 250 points and 5 users.

Congratulations to you then Paul, you are obviously doing all of the right things if your users keep coming back for more..
