I currently host a 3.x.x Vbulletin forum and I'm looking to upgrade to 3.5 sometime in the next weeks.
What I want to do is install a fresh copy of 3.5 (on a test location) and customize it to my liking (about 15-20 hacks at least)... When it's ready I would like to transfer the members, posts, threads and attachments from the old 3.x.x site... Would this create a lot of problems? Given it's done based on the instructions? If so is there an easier way to achieve what I want (having a fresh 3.5 with the old info, and a few new hacks)...? Thanks for your time. |

Use ImpEx to create a clean copy of your 3.0 first. Then use the new copy to upgrade to 3.5.
Don't go try selectively copy things from 1 database to another. |

I would suggest not to use ImpEx, as this could break existing links (because of changing IDs)

Yes it does break links that are linking to other topics on the board. But unless you know what you are doing, it still is the best option.

Right. It's the easiest way for sure.
