I'm looking to put together an internet based literary magazine (short stories and novellas, mostly). Does anyone know of any decent premade software for such a thing? I'm not looking to modify blog/WordPress type software, but looking for something database driven.
Head on over to Open Source CMS. It's a pretty good site that details all kinds of free portals and CMSs. Right now I'm working with Drupal , and it has been excellent for article publishing.

Isn't Drupal alot like Mambo, Ike? I've used Mambo (Open Source), but not Drupal.

Thanks in advance.
Of course, one of the best set-ups for that kind of thing is the software that slashdot runs on, it's called Slash. The main web site is: http://slashcode.com/

I would say kind of, but the backend is so much more organized (IMO) than Mambo's. It takes about an hour or two to understand most of it, but when you do, it's a powerful system. The beauty lies in the modules that the dev team and the users have submitted to the site (around 200 I believe). The community is pretty active and willing to answer your questions, which is definetely a plus.

Have you integrated Drupal with vBulletin? I'm looking for a way to use Drupal as a portal / front-end to vBulletin 3.5.x.
