Outstanding Questions

Hi. This forum has been a great resource - I'm still stumped on the following issues, and was hoping someone could help me out:

1) Is there a way to flush the mail queue (that is, send all of the queued mails immediately)?

2) How do you use the vB API to access the database?

3) How do you use the vB API to add a new post / reply? (I did something like this, but it didn't work entirely.)

4) Is there anyway to show the excerpt from the message beneath the message, on the forum index page?

I'd really appreciate if anyone could get me started on any of these.

1) You would have to do this manually, eg. LOCK mailqueue, SELECT, send mails, UNLOCK
2) ??? Class vB_Database, vB_Database_Alter
3) function build_new_post()
4) ??? function fetch_trimmed_title()

Thanks for the speedy reply. I already do #3, I just thought I'd be better off "upgrading" to the DM API. Re #2 & #4 : I guess the ??? mean you feel it should be easy... (shrugs) - okay, I'll do some more work.

Re #1: Isn't their code already to flush the queue? I mean, the system must do it sometimes. But I couldn't find it...
