Well i never saw any "tut" on php, or any "tut" on vBulletin modding/hacking, but i have been writing my own hacks and modified existing ones to suite my needs. Without any help from this forum (not a member that long yet).
vBulletin is very well written and good structured. By studying a bit for yourself you can easily learn how to write your own hacks. No "tut" on writing a hack needed, the best "tut" you already have: the vB sources. |

There are hundreds of good tutorials on PHP available on the net including PHP.net. There are also a ton of great books teaching PHP in print today. If you really want to lean, thats the way to go.
I however have learned a great deal through modifying vbullitins php code to create modifactions my site needed. |

Bottom line is, that it should not be the task of vBulletin staff to write "tut"s on general php language. If you know the language, vBulletin sources are fairly easy to read, and if you have any problem left, people are always willing to help you further here in the forums. |

Before I started modifying vBulletin (about 1 1/2 years ago) I didn't know much about PHP at all.
But as already said, vBulletin is moreless good structured, therefor it's not too hard to get into it. I never read any books or tutorials about PHP or mySQL - the source files, php.net, mysql.com (and sometimes google groups) are enough ![]() |

Maybe a list of links to those places somewhere posted, for those who can't find these would be enough.

I think its a good idea, a coding knowledge base, since alot of us here are hackers and hack-makers.
I wouldn't mind writing some tutorials, and I am sure there are great writers here who are also great hack-makers and hackers. There are documentations, but not clearly geared towards hack-making. You might want to stick this into Site Feedback as well, to get the admins to more clearly look at it. tut = tutorials? |
