I was just curious is there was a resource for a "bad words" that admins could use to put in the "Words to censor" section of the Admin Control Panel of vB?

I recently put together a list and would be happy to post it, but I wanted to get some feedback first. I'd have to post it as a text file since it would probably get edited out otherwise.

Would anyone else appreciate such a list to use on their board?

I dont have that option turned on.(Beacause I didnt really care and didnt feel like taking the time to make a list) However I wouldl like to see your list. Maybe Ill use it....

Well, since I haven't heard anything from SaintDog that he'd rather I didn't, here's my censored word list (see attached).

I started with finding the original 7 words from George Carlin and then through some google searches found some more resources and complied this list.

I'd be interested to see if anyone else's list as well. This is in no way a definitive list, it's just the best one I could put together. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

I wish there was an install button for this item so that I could see how many people are using the list. SaintDog, what do you think?

Why ***** is censored ? It is normal...not to vulgar.

Edit: Their are younger people who visit the board, hence the reason it is not allowed. I have allowed him to post the file, let's not repeat what is in the file, ok?

The use of censored words is a personal choice and one that you can excercise on your board as you see fit. All of my boards allow young people to to access them, and I would prefer that certain words be excluded from posts.

Some of the examples are not "dirty words" per say, but their context is such that I don't think that would should have a home on my board. Clearly, SaintDog does as well, because I have no idea what word you just entered.

Something needs to be done so that a-s-s is not censored out of words like massive.

...Edit: Funny, it's censored out of massive in this post, and some others I've seen around here. Odd.

SaintDog fixed this last night. So you can now say assignment without being censored .

However, you still can't say [better wash my mouth] [better wash my mouth] [better wash my mouth] .
