Hacking strategies for VB 3.5?

I've been reading through all the discussions (and debate?) about the up coming vB 3.5 release and was wondering what others were planning on doing to take advantage of the new hook and plug system? The process proposes certainly seems wonderful with not having to redo all those file edits to upgrade vB, possibly breaking hacks in the process, but to take full advantage of it it requires the hacks to be updated. I have over 150 hacks on my board at this point with many of the original authors now AWOL so it's unlikely they will be updated in my lifetime. I'm faced with either doing without any outdated hacks to use the hook system and treat the upgrade in the same way as changing from vB2 > vB3 or trying to hack in the ones that still work and being faced with the same issue as before for the next upgrade only at a lesser level. For those that will upgrade... what is your plan to handle it? Will you hold out for only vB3.5 compliant hacks or redo your file edits yet again? I have some good stuff on my boards now that I'd hate to loose but if I edit files I'll be right back to the same old-same old for the next update yet again.

It will be impossible to say until we see the code, and how much it has changed (or not).

nothing can be said as nothing is out regarding 3.5

my guess is that there will still be some file editing...
the plugin system is a way to grab and use vb's core functions/global variables/etc without having to do all the extra code

it's perfect for companies that want to integrate their own products with vbulletin ... more sales for vbulletin and the company (it works both ways)

From what i understand from the given description written by Jelsoft, the plugins give us a wide selection of areas within vB's source code where we can "inject" specific codes, atleast thats how i see the description, but i guess we have to wait before anyone can really be definate.

I am planning to re-release all my hacks in vB3.5 coding (after having pissed about with it abit so that I dont end up making too many unneccessary file edits), and I have about 80 hacks installed - neither of which I am planning to let go.
"Luckily" () my forums went in the drains after my old server caught fire, so I have a good chance to get all hacks working again before re-releasing. Thing is, stuff like the Arcade I am going to redo, but I can't exactly release it without recoding it...
