CP Options Notification

I am trying to find a hack that will add notification of different events for each user and can be selected in the user control panel.

example: A member has a license that is coming due and wants a reminder prior to the up coming date either it be 3,2 or 1 months or x many days.
This could be added into the user control panel.
The notification would be either by their email or PM.

If anyone has a hack like this or similar I would appreciate a link.
