Forget where it was posted, was in one of those huge page count threads, but some one decided that the "Instant Community" was rubbish.
I would refute that. Instant = immediate, how quick is it to put a board up? Okay given you may have a few problems with the first attempt if not used to the technology, it should still be a quick and painless process, so is pretty much instant. Instant = immediate, most people who start boards have some posting buddies or friends who want to join asap, ergo you pretty much have something happening within half an hour of going live. Community = group of people in same location. Who doesn't start a board and not have some of their friends on board. Community = group of people with same interest. Regardless if your board is technical, covers fashion, or some bred of dog there's people who are heavily into that and want to talk about it with like minded people and get advice and answers. I think "Instant Community" sums it up nicely. vBulletin is pretty quick to install, and you do have a community starting within the first half hour, even if that community only has a hand full of members at first. So whoever it was (think it was the vBulletin vs Invision thread), how exactly isn't vBulletin an instant community. Over to you Talisman, just know he will have some answer to this ![]() |
