login boxes at the top of screen

ok this is a rather confusing situation.

im running vbb2.3.0 with vbportal3.0pr2

now on the vbportal front end ive managed to sucessfully move the login boxes to the top of the screen and have them dissapearing when a user is logged in to be replaced when "you are logged in please click here to logout"

todo this i edited the vbp header.php

and changed it from

eval("\$themeheader = \"".gettemplate("P_themeheaderLI")."\";");

} 


ok fair enough now both the vbb back end and the portal both use $themeheader to generate the site header and it works fine on the vbp end.

so i found where vbb calls $themeheader from which is phpinclude templace

and i changed it to read

now the login box appears perfectly and i can login fine however it doesnt dissapear when the user is logged in

anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this?
