pulling data from the db

If something like this already exists I tried to search for it but didnt find to much of anything useful.. What Im wanting to do is setup something that pulls data from the DB and prints it on the front page.. That way all I need to do is make a post on the board, thats locked, that only I can edit, that keeps the data updated without having to do any html editing! :lick: im not very good at writing php/sql material but I can understand it atleast
