Well, to make a long story short... we ended up with a corrupt database. Now, luckily, there is only 63 users on the site so far (since it's new) and we can add them manually w/o having them re-register.
My husband did save the thread "part of the database", is there anyway to import these into the new one? Does my question even make sense!? LOL! Man, it's been a long day... Thanks for any help. |

hmm...doesn't really makes since to me, but if you mean backing up the database and puting it on a new database, just use PHPMyAdmin

Sorry. The wording was off. Something happened during the upgrade of vbb (hosting issues, during the upgrade the hosting died and it seems as if no back up was done or not done properly. When my husband tried to upgrade it, it said there was something wrong with the database, to refresh... he sent an email to vbb support, but no reply...
So, he said screw it and did a clean install (2.2.5)... he still has the 'file' or 'database' (I am not sure 100% how it works) with the threads in them. Is there anyway he can implement these threads into his fresh new database? Hope that's better. He doesn't think there is a way, but I figured I'd ask the gurus... |

How come you guys only backed up the thread-part of the DB, and not the whole DB?
Would have been a breeze restoring it with phpMyAdmin or something similar. |

if the host died during the upgrading, all you have to do is re-run the upgradex.php again and it get it fix (even tho. if the database got corrupt while doing the upgrading while the host died, but it should make the database work again, but you might have to re-add the stuff that got deleted)....plus I have to agree with Sparkz, why did you only back up the threads and nothing else?? it would be easy to get everything working again if you backed up the own database.

Wow, thanks for the responses.
He did back it up, and when he ran upgradex.php it stated there was a "slight problem with the database" and to hit refresh or some such. |

Hmm, you could always try to run the repair.php that is located in the extras-folder in your vbulletin-zip
