Help with templates!!

I have a very simple question about templates, and thats how do I use them?

Say I create a template called "my_stuff", and inside that template I put a table with some html and text.

Well, I wan't to call this template from the forumhome template, it doesn't matter where, I just want to call it. So would I call it using a variable called "$my_stuff"?

How does this work out? I've already tried the above example and it didn't work, do I need to add something to a php file? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

you gotta put this line in index.php

eval("\$my_stuff = \"".gettemplate('my_stuff)."\";");

just put it right above this and it should work

eval("dooutput(\"".gettemplate('forumhome')."\");" );

Well if you wan't the template to be on the index.php page, then in index.php I don't think it matters where you would put

eval("\$YOURVARIABLE .= \"".gettemplate('TEMPLATENAME')."\";");

so if you wanted to call it to the forumhome template you would do this in the index.php, if you want it somewhere else you have to find the corresponding php page for it.
