Default Security - Returning from Overseas trip

I have just returned from a short two stop overseas trip for work and have never seen security so tight. I have been to both countries many times and have never been interrogated so extensively, entering and departing the countries. I am not complaining as it is a different world out there, just stating my observation. I am glad not to be traveling for the next two weeks.

If you are a frequent business traveler from the states to an overseas destination, drop me a PM. I might be able to save you some hassles.

Not sure how the rest of the USA is taking it but in NYC here we were taking the news of an imminent ISIS thread from the Iraqi PM fairly seriously... highest terror tensions/alerts I've seen in a long time.

Vegas is great. Not sure if it's your thing but see the Hoover Dam if you can.

I love to be wowed so seeing something breathtaking like that is definitely my thing

I dont know whether i can afford it or have the time as im probably only ever going once so trying to fit as much as possible in. It's my 50th birthday treat so we maxed the credit card to go as i've always wanted to do it, not for the gambling as such (we'll do that once) but more for the glitz and glamour that you can only get there, my birthday day will be getting picked up at 10am from the Venitian in a big army Humvee and taken to battlefield vegas, after that im doing the skyjump at the stratosphere, later we're getting picked up at the hotel and taken to the airport and doing vegas by night in a helicopter then getting dropped off at the Mon Ami Gabi restaurant at the Paris hotel, we've got a table booked on the patio to watch the Bellagio fountains as we eat - should be a birthday to remember (would have been nice to be able to do the Hoover on the same day).

Wow, seems like you have a packed day already- did my 30th bday there (over several days) - one day was driving 4x4 quads in the desert, one night a dinner-theater show, one night at the dueling piano bar in NY NY, and some other things.

The Hoover Dam is probably one of the cheapest things you can do if you find the time, get a car rental for the day and drive down... about a 45 min drive each way.

Wow quite a plan you have

You'll love Mon Ami Gabi restaurant, outside. They have heaters set up outside, if it gets cold. That is one of my favorite places to eat in Vegas. We are there every January, for a trade show.

You can walk just about anywhere, everything is close. There is a monorail. (well not to Hoover Dam, but stuff on the strip) Most of the big hotels have some kind of free attraction to see. (the pirate ship show, the tigers, the volcano, the pyramid light show, etc)

Only 45 mins??? wtf?, i was told it's hours!, i'll definitely do that then. I'm having a birthday week i'm staying 6 nights, i've got to do freemont street, heart attack cafe, magaritasville, All the casinos that have a show like TI and Ceasars palace...etc, sooooooo much to do in a short space of time and so little cash.

It's real close- maybe someone was confused with The Grand Canyon... although part of the canyon is close "As the crow flies" its several hours of driving to get to the iconic parts.

That's sad about the pirate show as my wife would have loved that.
