Need an a merchant account for adult content!

Does anyone have any recommendations on who to go to for a merchant account/credit card processor that allows adult content?

I checked out CCBill, but they require a ridiculous deposit to use VISA, they hold reserve funds for 6 months, and take even more money on top of that. It doesn't sound very good to me. Not only that, but if you Google CCBill there is an insane amount of complaints against them.

PayPal flat out won't do it.

The others I found are in another country which makes me nervous (I'm in the US).

So, if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Working for 10 years on developing custom adult sites, I can say that I've experiance on it, even if I'm bringing bad news. If you want a US based company, your only choice is ccBill. I'm just surprised for their current hight rates. I had an account with them back to 2005, but their rates wasn't so high. Of course I can understand them. Adult sites have a high rate of chargeback. That's the reason that companies like iBill and iKobo have lost their VISA and MC accounts and folded.

The trick that most of my clients are using (so they're able to accpet even PayPal), is to have a seperate website for selling subscriptions. There is a "hole" in PayPal usage agreement. They say that the incoming (and return link) is prohibiting to be an Adult oriented web site.

Last chance for you is to ask for a Merchant Account from your local Bank. 90% you'll get it even with high rates (but lower than any 3nd party service).

I suppose I wouldn't mind using one that is not in the US as long as I knew it was safe. Do you have any International recommendations that process US dollars and will deposit to my US bank account?

Also, I had considered what you said about PayPal. I wonder if it is possible for me to capture the users information on my site and then process payments myself manually completely separate from my website? Is there a module for caputring buyer data rather than processing it? But if I do it that way, that makes things complicated for PCI compliance right?
