Add sub-menu to Main Menu

Hi There,

Please help... I own a web business and am working on a large elementary school site for a private secure members area for 4 groups.

Can the top menu - have a sub-menu to it? Pull down menu bar?

Can the menu be removed entirely and replaced with something completely different (different system)?

Please PM with for further details. I have some other adjustments to make as well.
