Changing Homepage layout

I created a new grid + widgets and i edited the layout. How do i make this layout be active on the Homepage and the individual sections of the home page?

If you go to the home page or the section (not in the adminCP but the actual page), you can edit it using the pencil icon, and that will let you choose the layout from a dropdown menu.
