New users passwords do not work / exisitng users passwords / unable to reset on vbul

Hi guys,

I recently have done an upgrade to Version 3.8.7 , and it appears as though new users are unable to have their passwords saved properly. When they log out after the initial registration, they are unable to get back in. Existing users changing passwords also falls foul of this.

I have been searching around and come across multiple threads that go after a "upgrade_402_salt.php" solution which would be fine, but I am on V.bul 3 !

How can i get around the problem on 3.8.7?

on my user table, the Salt is "char(30)" , which I am guessing is the problem (read that the old version was 3?) . Can i simply change the value to 3...without screwing up everyone elses passwords?

Any help would be very much appreciated!
