how to connect to other database in vb4 ??

i have many databases in my site , i want to connect to database and get some info to display it in my forum .

in vB3 my plugin was :

then i post $res[0] and $res[1] in forumhome and other templates

Now in vb4 i can't do that .. and have Fatal error :

Fatal error: Call to a member function query_first_slave() on a non-object in D:\www\xampp\htdocs\vb04\includes\class_bootstrap. php on line 765

any help ?
