Duplicate forum block "recent forum threads" as a cms widget?

I am trying to duplicate the recent forum threads side block shown on the forum sidebar as a cms widget. It seems none of the available widget settings do not allow this. I've tried using recent activity widget with "most recent" as the setting but it results in a thread moving back up the list if there's any activity in the thread.

What I want is a listing of latest threads started in a particular forum without a thread moving back up the list if there's a post. The "Recent Forum Threads" in the sidebar block behaves as desired since it just lists newest threads rather than newest active threads.

It seems like a fairly easy thing to do since everything must already be there to do so since it is already being done for the forum sidebar block?
