Hi everyone,
I'd love it if someone could give me some help that will show me the way forward. I've spent a few hours (on and off) trying to get my head around how the templates and CSS in the vbulletin system work, and I'm no further forward! I've obviously customized my board using the editor and all is well. But, I want to be able to do more. Here's the current state of my live board: http://www.barbel.co.uk/site/vbulletin/forum/index.php I've come to the conclusion that if someone could explain how to change one small element, that might be all I need to make progress. So, say I want to change the colour of the text that's displayed in the About Me panel for each users profile. Can anyone give me some idiot proof instructions for how to do this please? Many thanks, Andy |

Unfortunately, 3.8 is not as easy to change as 4.0 since it isn't using css throughout the style. But, you can always modify the template code itself and change the text color there. To find the template to modify, do this - vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then go back to your page and view the source code and you will see the name of the template called around your part of the code.

Thanks Lynne, I'll have a look at that now.
I'm amazed when I look at some other boards as they're brilliant! How do these people create such unique looking forums (are they designers, or coders)? Is there an idiots guide somewhere that'll get me on my way towards this end? Did I do wrong by editing the default style rather than creating a new one do you think? Thanks again, Andy |

I always keep a default style around for troubleshooting purposes. But, you can always create a new one by just creating a new style with No Parent.

So, can you layer multiple styles on top of each other?
If I create a new style with no parent and apply it as well as the default style, will they both affect the board? Thanks, Andy |

I don't know what you mean about applying them on top of each other. Each page can only have one style applied to it. The CMS, however, also has layouts/grids applied.
