Hi, so it's probably posted somewhere but I haven't found the answer yet. There are certain addons or modifications that I've come across here that aren't supported.
Does this mean if I use them, I can't continue updating my VB version? I'm assuming it only means it's up to me to troubleshoot them, and VB support can't help me with this. But I was wondering if using unsupported modifications voids my support on the overall product. Thanks. |

Well, vB doesn't actually support any modifications on this forum. They just provide the venu for vB coders to distrubute them to licenced members. The owner is the one who decides whether he want's to tick the option when posting a mod as to whether he plans on supporting it or not. That's all it means. It's not an indication that it won't be updated or any more than a Supported modification means it will be updated. It's just an indicator that the mod author doesn't have the time or is not willing to answer support questions related to this modification. It doesn't mean however, that someone else in the thread won't. And I've seen a few "unsupported" mods here where the author still does answer questions, as long as they're not real involved
Also, unless the policy has changed since I last read it, vBulletin.com will not offer official support for vBulletin if you have modifications of any kind installed. This isn't necessarily a problem, as most problems can be worked out in the forums generally. |
