resizing avatars on champions page problem

and reduced the sizes of the avatars to 125 x 125. my normal avatar size is 200 x 200. this workaround was working fine.

the reason i wanted to reduce the size of the avatars on the champions page (arcade home page) was the page would stretch and require slight horizontal scrolling. like i said all was well but then i created a new avatar and attached it for the #1 person and for some reason onlhy that avatar will not resize to 125x125 and the code has not changed. i tried it in png, gif, jpg all the same result. i hosted the image externally as well as hosting in on my server, same result. avatar stays 200x200 and will not resize. can anyone offer any advice on this?

i cleared my browser cache, flushed the cache (vboptimise) as well. still same result. i dont understand cause this was all fine until i changed the guys avatar myself. i wonder if he needs to update it himself...
