I am trying grasp the capacity of the admin (or administrator group) to embed live html, flash or video types content into the body of the post (not merely the signature, but the body).
As far as I can tell, (1) even the admin can not do such insertion unless the admin first creates a custom bb code to support embedding one or more of the types. But, as far as I can tell, (2) once that bb code has been created, then all users have access to it. Are (1) and (2) correct? If so, then I need a work-around. I want my forum to react to 10 different flash movies that I will post at the top of 10 different threads. But I do not want them to be able to post their own flash movies. Here's the approach I'm thinking of taking. I will create 10 custom bb codes (flash1, flash2, flash3....flash10). The "Replacement" scripting defining each of those 10 codes will omit the usual reference to the "{param}" field. Instead, where the parameter field would appear, the URL of the respective flash movie will appear. When defining each BB Code, I will set "Remove Tag If Empty" to NO. This way when I do the post for, say, flash, I can enter "What is your opinion of ?" with no blanks, causing it to call up the particular flash movie defined for flash1. Similarly, in the next thread, I'll post . And so on. This work-around won't stop users from posting flash, but they will only be able to post one or more of the ten flash files that I have established in the 10 bb codes. Is there a better way? |
