vBulletin 3.7.5
Our forum sends sometimes thread notifications with the username as the sender, instead of the email address. Not reproducable, but I have already two mails like that. Both users have valid mail addresses. Known issue? |

I've never heard of this issue. But, if you think it may be a bug, your best bet it to take a look at the Bug Tracker on vb.com

Nothing about that in the Bug tracker for 3.7
Strange thing, I have now 6 emails of this kind. Not really bad but irritating and the users cannot reply (yes, they should not, but sometimes they do). We send notification emails to a mailing list. Example: Username = ThisUser Email Address = hismail@addre.ss ("ThisUser" opened a new thread in the forum) But I get the notification from ThisUser@smtp-in.ostry.com where the part after the @ is our incoming mailserver. Another person gets the mail from ThisUser@redmatica.com which shows his incoming mailserver. I checked the user profiles and the sender address is definitely the username while the email address gets ignored. |

Is that a modification that sends the notifications to a mailing list? It sounds like there is some bug in the modification somewhere.

No, we didn't write anything, it is the normal thread notification but we did never use it before, except for a short test. The wrong email addresses I've found are 6 out of about 50 (very rough guess).
