Vbulletin uses two different types of storage for attachments, they can be stored in the database or the file system.
admincp --> attachments --> Attachment Storage Type This will tell you how the forum is currently storing attachments, if they are stored in the DB and you want to move them to the file system, you will be prompted to put in the correct folder path after you have created the folder, you can find your path in the phpinfo under the maintence section, typically in the last box of the phpinfo page. SERVER["SCRIPT_FILENAME"] /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/forums/admincp/index.php You path ie = /home/xxxxxxx/attachments (chmod the attachments folder to 777) I store them under the public_html for security. |

If they are in the database, then they are in the attachment table. But they aren't something you can go and look at in there.

You may put them in the file system if you'd like. You need to first create a folder to put them in and chmod that folder to 777. The folder should be above your forum root folder for security purposes and so people may not have direct access to it. However, if you lost a bunch of attachments, they are not going to magically come back when you move them from the database to the file system.

Thank you so much for your reply .
The thing is that i havent lost them . I see them in my old forum I which i havent delete it ) . they are in a folder there called image hosting. What i am going to do is when i creat a new folder as you said , i will then copy the whole folder ( from the old forum ) and paste it on the new . Is it going to work that way ? What do you think ? Thanks again |

If they were in the file system on the old site, then why didn't you just copy the images over when you moved sites? It's unclear to me whether they are actually currently in the database or in the file system. If they are in the database, then you should be able to just move the to the file system and all should be fine. But, if they are really supposed to be in the file system but aren't, I'm not sure what you should do. I guess at this point, I'd save my database (as a backup) and try to move them to the file system and see what I get. Then, if you only have some, try moving over some of the files from the other server and see if that works.
