I'm learning about how to create a new Product/Mod, via both searches, and now this howto from the docs
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/exporting_product I've now learned how to add a new table into my vbulletin install (and to uninstall the table as well). Now, I was wondering about creating the additional cpnav_myproduct.xml file to include the Admin Navigation, as well the files that will be used. Is it proper to attempt to include code in your product xml file that would also create your cpnav_myproduct.xml file? ie, Attempting to Keep everything in one xml file. And when the product is installed, it would create the additional files? The user would likely have to have their folder/directory permissions for the files to be created, correct? Or is best to have the product xml file only have code to run the necessary queries, and to keep any other files separate for user uploading? |

I have usually just seen the cpnav_myproduct.xml file included in the zip file and then a mention in the install instructions to make sure to upload the file to includes/xml (and a mention in the uninstall instructions to remove the file).
