Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost'

I keep getting the following:

mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10048)
E:\inetpub\vhosts\d3gaming.com\httpdocs\includes\c lass_core.php on line 311

On my website D3gaming.com

happens atleast once a month.
my host isn't telling me much, but it's irratating because they're telling me all they do is recycle the mysql service and it's working.

So i'm thinking it's an issue with the host and not my site.
They also claim it may be an issue with my database, So here i am just looking for some insight. I need to get this corrected, even if i have to pay someone.

Any Ideas?

The error is caused by the MySQL server being down. This is in-line with your host saying they are restarting the service. Most likely - someone happens to view your forum while the service is restarting.

Hey Dismounted,

Thank you for responding. I am begining to be a bit concerned with the frequency of this problem. Currently i am using a shared hosting because my website is not that big. I am concerned that if i continue with their service/server That this may be a constant thing.

Is this normal for something like this to happen monthly? Obviously there has to be something causing it. I am just trying to cover my base and make sure it's not my site.

PS. I just wanted to add, Currently the problem is intermitent. I can load the page, then randomly get a database error, the site automatically emails me the error and it's the same error every single time.

It depends on your host - it's usually routine to restart services such as MySQL though, to clear up some memory.

The MySQL errorlog might reveal the reason.

I see that zoints tags is corrupted from what they're telling me but would that be enough to bring down an entire board?
