Viewing threads from X to Y (date)?

Hello!
I want to set a single line select menu my forumdisplay (as the "sort by" menu below the threads) with some options and when a user click on them, it appears only threads from a time period I will have set for every option.

eg:
Option1 (threads from 24/4/2007 - 12/7/2007)
Option2 (thread from 6/1/2008 - 8/6/2008)

When a user click the Option1, in forumdisplay will appear the threads which they have started in this time period.
It is important to be in a specific time period (not for example "last month's/last week/last 100days threads").
Any hack or other way to do it?
