Jumping Posts?

Hello.

I seem to have encountered a problem with my vBulletin Forum. For reference, we are currently running the latest version.

It seems as though posts are "jumping" around in threads. There are threads in which the original poster becomes the second poster, and the second poster becomes the first.

I can provide two examples:

And on another thread a member by the name of Tiffy posted something, and the timestamp is:

09-10-2008, 01:31 AM

This is not possible. Plus, that post is at the bottom of the thread and considered the latest! This is odd because this thread was just created last night!

What could possibly be causing this? Any assistance is appreciated.

The 'latest' post in the thread is the one with the newest post time, which in most cases is the last post. Also, if threads are merged the original starter may be come a later poster based on post times.

I understand that, but none of these posts have been merged.

09-10-2008, 01:31 AM - a post could not have been made at this time, because the forum wasn't even online then! Plus, there are posts from just recently, that are behind this one - which clearly doesn't make any sense.

Just to confirm that is the 10th September 2008 correct? (You Americans are so weird sometimes )

Your server time must have gone a bit AWOL at the time, and so recorded the post as being posted in the future (as the post time is taken from the server time), just check that it is now back to normal.

We are not! And I would blame it on your server.

I had that happen to me - it was the server that malfunctioned and the date jumped. I had to change the date back and then edit all the times manually (threads, posts, PMs, etc.) It jumped nearly within a few minutes of 8 hours less than 1 year ahead. I rounded it to 8 hours off of 1 year. Figuring out everything based on unixtime was a blast... I spent several hours fixing this.
