Upgrade to vb3.7.0

Im currently on 3.6.7 and im curious if i could upgrade my board to the new version of Vb without having to pay for all the custom hacks that where implemented on my board.If i cant then i simply wont be upgrading because hacks dont come cheap on here and some of them have cost hundreds of $.

If i can how do i go about it.I only know the upgrade way which i heard cant be used from 3.6.7 as new version needs a full install doing.

Im asking these questions before i put a request in paid requests section for someone to do it for me.

Well, it all depends on the modifications you have installed and how they are implemented into the forum. Some will work, some won't... I've upgraded and every single modification I use worked fine, but then again I don't have what I consider alot of modifcations installed.

Best bet is to view your products list, locate the product thread here at vb.org, or contact the author of the mod, and verify that they will work with 3.7.

well the hacks where custom made and some of the hacks in question i was not given the actual code to.The coder just added them to the board himself.The thing is they work - but one of the main things we use on our board is vbcredits and have a custom hack made for that that allows us to charge what ever we set for users to download attachments.

Well, I would either contact the coder that created the script, or if they have disappeared, you could create a test board. Back up your entire forum's database and files, copy to a test area, import the database into a seperate DB for testing. Perform a upgrade to vb 3.7, and see what happens.

Asides that, hiring a professional just to go through your forum to see what's been modified might be your only solution if you don't know what's been done / changed.

3.7 has a lot of templates and redesign, therefore a lot of modifications won't work on 3.7 if you're using 3.6.x

The best option is to pay again to be up-to-date. It's best that whoever created this should made a 1 year free update, etc. This way, he knows that he'll get more business.
