I am just now trying to get my site WAP-friendly, and even the default skin looks pretty terrible on most handhelds, especially my blackberry. I have the WAP detection plugin from vb.org installed as well as one of the WAP specific skins.
What I'd really like to do would be to add a mobile.sevenstring.org subdomain to my server, and have WAP users hit that subdomain instead, with the only difference being the skin. That way they can hit the main domain if they're using a WAP browser that agrees with my custom "real" skin, or the mobile site if they so choose rather than just being automatically forced into the WAP skin every time a handheld is detected. Is this possible? I never realized just how big of a percentage my memberbase actually hits my site from a handheld, nor did I realize how many shortcomings where were with vB in this respect. Cheers. |

Try this on: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=151514
If you only want to assign a style to a single subdomain down load the first XML, teh 2nd one allows up to 5 subdomain/style assignments. BTW - I'd suggest "m.domainname.com" for your WAP users. It's shorter to type from a phone keyboard and seems to be somewhat standard with some of the big sites out there |
