Where are member's attachment stats stored?

Where are member's attachment stats stored?

Are each member's attachment statistics stored in the database? Or are they calculated on the fly for pages like /profile.php?do=editattachments ?

I'd like to work out a rewards program base on the attachments each member has uploaded. For example, if they have uploaded 10 MB they will get bumped to a different usergroup.

Has anyone else worked on this before? I'd hate to reinvent the wheel.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
