Default Database Error

I requested that my host upgrade our VPS from PHP 4.4.4 to PHP 4.4.7 and install Xcache v1.2.1, which they have completed.

I am now being flooded (over 2000 already) with db errors and have contacted my host regarding this..

Quote:
Database error in vBulletin :

mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client /home/mysite/public_html/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 274

MySQL Error :

Date : Thursday, November 29th 2007 @ 02:48:58 PM
Script : http://www.mysite.com/forum/index.php
Referrer : http://www.mysite.com/forum/index.php
IP Address : x.x.x.x

Classname : vb_database
I have still yet to hear from my host regarding the connect issue so I am trying to resolve this myself. I am running MySQL version 4.1.22-standard.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm searching Google now, but thought I'd ask you guys, too.

Thanks much

Post the contents of your my.cnf

Also, reset your password for your database user thru phpmyadmin.

On the main page, click "privileges", then click the little pencil icon on the right of the user for your forum, type the new password in the provided boxes in the change password box.

Oh well hell. I don't get it. For some reason I'm not logged in properly... I appear to be logged into phpmyadmin as my cpanel user.

This is the path I use to login.... is there another way?

If your using cpanel, change the forum user password using webhost manager.

Anthony, thanks again for your help. I'll try that.

Question.... My host has asked if I have a backup, because apparently they've fubared my box. Ya, this polite girl is starting to speak like a sailor..

Anyway! They asked for this an hour ago. Would it really take that long to restore a site via backup?

Ok, so I'm in.... see the password field, shall I just edit it because, of course, what I see is not the "actual" password.

It sounds like you have yourself a drunk sailor.

Import of your db depends on how much info is in it really, but if you db is only 100-200mb, it should be under 5 minutes to import it.

Your welcome.
