Can anyone help me with attachment error message? Searched everywhere & no answer

OK, I have a forum that used to be a Simple Machines Forum, but has since been upgraded to VB 3.6.4.

For some reason, all the attachments that were in threads from the previous SMF software no longer work. If you click on the attachment in the thread, it will not open. If I delete the attachment and then reattach a fresh attachment copy, the attachment still will not open. I have tried changing the file name of the attachment and even uploaded a new copy of attachments.php on the server which helped someone else with a similar problem (who had a corrupt attachments.php file).

I get the following error message:

"Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator."

Now the weird thing is, whenever I start a new thread and make an attachment, it opens just fine. It seems only the old threads that were created in the old SMF software that were transferred to VB were effected.

Any suggestions? I've looked everywhere and tried VB support to no avail.
