As the title says, how do i do that?

Each category/section has a different image representing it, how do I do that?

It would appear that they simple have an image for each forum containing its forumid. Then they add a column to the templates with an image which includes the forumid variable. You have to modify the FORMHOME, FORUMDISPLAY, and all the forumdisplay_level_x_* templates to add the extra column.
