Sub Fourm Problem

On the main forum page, the status icons show up on the far left column, and on the description bar, the same spacing shows up. On sub forums it does not reflect this. I went to the template where the sub forums are at, but it shows $forumbit there where it lists the forums. So where is the code that makes the sub forums? Thanks
