Hi,
I had a question. I would like to know if it is possible or if there is any mod that will do this. What I want to do is upload a file on a server, for example http://www.downloadexample.com/download.zip and then add this as an attachment. But I don't want it to be uploaded on the forum server but I want the file to get an attachment link. Why do I want this? Because I want to prevent unregistered users to download a such a file from my forum and I don't want registered users to find out the original URL. The download link and the forum are both on two different hosts so thats why I need to find a mod that can do this. Anyone that can help me? Thanks! anyone? |

i intend to eventually do what you are currently doing, split the downloads and the forum on 2 different hosts. I dont know if there is a mod or an article that helps to do this, but if there wasn't i was hoping to try use a combination of .htaccess redirects and dns settings.....have no idea how though, just figured that i'll cross that bridge when i come to it
EDIT: bookmarked....want to know if someone can help you EDIT2: found this thread with the search function.....its a pretty useful thread, read through it all, but the most important post is #17. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=110291 |
