I had APC installed a while back. Now I am wondering if it is actually working at all. I know it's technically installed (see attached screen of my phpinfo) but there are a couple of reasons that have me guessing.
First, the other day I decided to try using APC to cache the datastore. When I enabled the setting in the vB config.php my browser just hung when trying to get into the admin control panel. I let it sit for 5 min or so and nothing, no timeout just hung there appearing like it was trying to load the page so I reverted back to the filecache method. So then I uploaded the "apc.php" file provided with the package and when trying to call the file in my browser I get the same behavior. I type the URL to the file, click GO, and nothing. No timeout or any error pages...just sits there trying to load and nothing happens. So I am not sure if it's doing anything at all at this point. I do have shell and root access to the server but my ability is limited to running a few commands like restoring databases and starting my shoutcast server with SSH. I have a root server with CPanel and pay a server management company to manage my server and they are the ones who installed APC initially. Any ideas on how to see if APC is working (or does the above mentioned behavoir mean it's not working) or where to look to fix it if it's not? I am running CPanel: FC4, PHP v4.4.2, Apache v1.3.36, MySQL v4.1.21. Any input would be greatly appreciated. |
