I have a large active forum that I switched 3 months ago from PHPBB to vB. My PHPBB forum was in the domain root directory so the Forum index page was the home page of the website. With my vB install the forum index is in a /forum directory.
After working very hard to import my big forum to vB, I then spent only about 5 mins making a "home" page in the document root to direct folks to the new forum directory. Now, I'm getting ready to make this "home" page presentable. I don't really want to modify my vB install too dramatically, so I'm intrigued by add-ons that would make the home page populated by blocks, etc from my forum, but also link to 30 pages of static content that I have as well. Should I consider vBportal or vbAdvanced? OR one of the mods here that allow me to create a nice home page with blocks from my vB forum. And, which one of these is best? My favorite would be a portal that didn't modify my vB install at all -- one that was a true add-on. Is there such a thing? Thanks for the suggestions! Paul Green |
