When performing the Update (3.0.X to 3.6)

Hello,

I would like to hear your opinion as to how I should upgrade my forums once 3.6 is released (and once I bought the license renewel).

In the past I have added several hacks to my forum, such as the v3Arcade.
I have read somewhere, the best solution to have the cleanest of all installs is to install a brand new forum and have the database imported via the ImpEx.
This way only the needed tables will be imported. The old tables can be deleted after a successfull upgrade.
Should I use this way of upgrading?
