If i want to backup my forums how would i do it?

from cpanel? from acp?

All of the above plus from the command line if you have SSH access. Here's how to do it from cpanel cron or the command line. I never used the vB backup.

I do it very simply with SSH access.

A backup-method from the commandline is more reliable then a web-based method, so use it if you have that option.
