Default Increase the ?Views? counter next to each thread on your forum for FREE !!!

How to increase the “Views” counter next to each thread on your forum for FREE !!!

This is not a Hack but it will get the job done and real fast. This will work with any forum and you don’t need to do anything to your forum to make it work.

1.Create a file called Views.bat and save it to your desktop.

2.Find the thread URL you want to change the “Views” on and copy and paste it into the views.bat file with a Start command in front of the URL.
Example(start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/)

3.Then copy and past the command 10 times like this.

start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/

4.On the next line after 10 commands type in “wait 2” (Download wait.exe from here http://www.wcscnet.com/FTP/Freeware/Wait100.zip)

5.Copy the wait.exe to your system32 folder.

6.Test the wait command by going to the command line and typing in “wait 2”. There should be a 2 second wait after you type in the command.)

7.The batch file should now look like this with your own URL of course.

start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/

start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
start www.YourForum.com/news-announcements/183/
wait 2

8. Now copy and paste the above 11 commands until you get the number of views you want. If you are trying to get into the thousands then copy and paste the above ten times. Then copy everything you have now which would be 100 views 10 times and that will get you into the thousands. Then do the same to get into 10,000 views.

WARNING: Do not remove the “wait 2” from the script if you are doing more than 10 views. This will most likely freeze your site. I did a test with 200 views with no wait and my site was frozen for about 20 seconds.

WARNING 2: Test this with only 10 views 1st. To make sure it is working correctly.

9. Save the file then run it.

Only a single Internet Explorer window should open up at a time. If for some reason you have 1 open for each view then you can add the following directly after the wait command. It will still open 10 each but for scripts of 10 views or more will delete all open windows then open 10 more and so on. (You will need to download pskill from this site http://www.sysinternals.com/Files/PsKill.zip )

wait 2
Pskill iexplore.exe

For people with the windows 2003 resource pack you can use the sleep command instead of wait and the kill command instead of pskill.

If you don’t see immediate changes to the views check the following:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options -> Update Thread Views Immediately: Yes/ No (Change to Yes)
If set to No it will update every hour. If you have a large forum you may want to leave this set to No. But if you have a large forum you really don’t need to do this anyway.

Once you have a script that works you can easily change the URL to a different thread by editing the file in notepad, or word and doing an Edit / Replace All

Here is the thread I tested this against on my own forum.
http://www.emcforums.com/news-announcements/
The thread I did it on was "New Pixar Movie Cars Used CX700"
The orignal count was 8 and when I was done it was 808.
