Updating .php file problem-question

I've edited the code of register.php.
The problem is that the modifications takes effect only sometimes.

The only way to explain this behaviour is that:

the php interpreter uses an old file version that is stored somewhere in a cache memory.

It's possible?

If the answer is yes, what can I do?
