"ignore forum" mod?

is there any mod on vbulletin that allows a user to ignore an entire section / forum / thread in a vbulletin forum?

i know a workaround could be to require subscription to a certain group for a forum to become visibnle and for you to post to it, however i want the default action to be people can SEE the forum, and then chose ignore, after which they're no longer bothered with that section when they hit new posts / search etc
