Force email update and verification

Has anyone come up with a hack to force a user or / users to update and verify their email address before they can access the forums?

Please explain more. During registration you already have the option to verify the mail address.

I have users that are active and have been for a couple years but low and behold I get bounced mail from birthday greeting or subscriptions. I hate deleting accounts but it seems the only option to get them to fix their email accounts.

Moving them to waiting email confirmation won't work because they're not getting mail. I installed a hack a couple weeks ago that forces users to update and custom field that got me thinking that would be great for forcing a user to fix their email address.

search for vBouncer (i think that is the name).

It will do some action if the mail of a user bounces.

Thanks, I've looked at that but I don't think it will work. I believe it works with sendmail and another unix mail server only and I use MDaemon. I will dig into though.
