a question about the leased license

okay i know i should've posted this at vb.com but i forgot my userinfo and too lazy to do the forgot pass thing

anyway

a friend of mine bought a leased license last year, his license expires in 10 days so he went and bought ANOTHER leased license

when i asked him why he said that in 10 his board will be illegal cos the license expires

so i told him that he just wont get updated versions of the forum but it would be legal

so he said no, so i wanna know when the leased license expires does the board become illegal if i dont buy another or the new license is just for updates?

i have an owned license so i wouldnt really know

When you have a leased license, you may use the software for one year. At the end of the year, you cannot use the software legally, and you cannot have access to the members' area.

owned license you can use your whole live, just when you want to upgrade you need to pay to get acces to the members area (30$/year)

leased license you can just use one year, after this year, you have two possibilities:
a) delete it from your server
b) pay another 85$ to use it another year
